1. abc’s
Usernames matter. It’s the very first thing indicator of who you might be. Studies have proved a username that starts with letters from the first half of the alphabet will do better than letters from the latter half. Why? Probably because the brain is programmed to pay attention to stuff at the ‘top of the pile’.
2. What’s the name of the game?
It may come as no surprise that men are attracted to ‘physical’ names and women to names that suggest intelligence. For example: TwinkleToes or SexySmile may attract guys but avoid words such as love and muffin, lady and garden and porn and star. These will attract attention, but on those other sites…
3. Word to the wise
What words should you drop into your dating profile? It’s a proven fact that guys are attracted to the words: Perceptive, passionate, optimistic, funny and physically fit. Pepper a few of these into your profile copy…but perhaps not all in one sentence? And maybe drop the ‘physically fit’ if you get out of breath lifting the kettle.
4. Be human
It sucks but if they are honest, guys are still a little nervous of strong, confident assertive women with big job titles and salaries to match. Suck it up if you want to get dated and go for a softer version of you with a hint of vulnerability. This makes guys feel you would still lean on them if you needed too. Once you get to a first date, you can pop him in a headlock and show him who you really are. Kidding.
5. Material world
Don’t declare a love for material things like diamonds, fast cars, designer clothes, shoes and handbags. It smacks of poor taste and frankly, it’s shallow. Don’t list the flash places you’ve been to because you think it will impress. If you must mention you’re incredible 5* holiday, balance it with a modest suggestion of where you’d still love to visit with non-materialistic motives. This will reassure your potential date that despite him earning under £1m a year, there might still be room for him in your world.
6. Picture my world

Posed bikini shots complete with duck-pout, #DefiniteFilter and cleavage-valley are a no-no. They suggest you’re more into yourself and the gym than anything else in this world. Leave that to the celebs. Yes, you may get lots of attention, but of the leering, not endearing kind. You cuddled a lion cub in Botswana? Show that pic instead. Smile modestly and naturally through your eyes. A magical hint of twinkle will lure them into your world…
7. Big business
Treat your quest for love like another job. Dedicate time to it every day. Be really active online, wink, message, and get out and date like crazy – even the guys that don’t tick your boxes initially. Frequent daters have the best chance of finding love. Put the odds firmly in your favour.
8. First date
Be the very best version of the fabulous you and don’t try to be something or someone you’re not. You don’t want them falling for anyone else but you, right?

That’s good and impressive. But I’ve tried it but haven’t gotten any reliable guy.
I met my first boyfriend through a dating site and the experience was a good one. We are still together 13 years later, so I have no issue with it at all :)
That is a real good story :)
While I know that online dating has worked for some of my friends, it has never been for me.
Finding love online has to be like looking for a needle in a haystack, don’t you think?
Millions of people are looking, but why can’t they find each other? I feel that even if you are put on a website, you may not be looking in the right places.
Online dating is a bad idea, that is why. If these people were all put into one country, they would find someone they are compatible with.
I would not wish online dating to anyone that I know, however, if you feel that your options have run out, it might be your only option. I would follow these tips as closely as possible.
These might be good tips for those that want to try online dating, but I live in a big city, I see enough people that seem like strangers to me even after I get to know them.
Reading this gives me a little hope in the online dating game again, but I am still gun shy about it after a few bad situations.
I would like to try online dating. I just moved to a much bigger city than the one I grew up in and I think it might be the best way to “meet” someone, before I meet them.
If you are going to try online dating, I guess these are good tips. I just never recommend online dating to anyone that is serious because it is a lot more work.
I am the same way at first. but now I have a boyfriend that i met online and things are real good.
I hate online dating. About 10 years ago it might have been something worth trying, but I never had much luck. Maybe my profile shouldn’t have included the fact that I like cats.
Part of my problem is that when I am paying attention to stuff at the top of the pile, someone comes along and throws something else on top of that.
LOL, that is my life in a nutshell right there. At some point it becomes hard to keep track of what you are working on.
I think if you are desperate then you are online dating. Otherwise, get your butt out the door and find a man!
I think online dating takes too long. It also takes practice. You have to find a good site, refine your profile until its perfect and then do some searching. I can go to a club or bar and find a mate in no time. At least there, within 5 minutes I know if it is worth it or not.
If you are trying to be real online, then you NEED to be honest and yourself. If you are looking for a GOOD end result, there is no need to lie or hide anything from a person that might show interest.
Dating online sucks. I would prefer to see a person face to face and learn more about them that way.
Totally, I have wasted so much time and money with online dating. I can get better results in a nice bar or club in a matter of a few hours.
Dating online is so hard to do. There is way too much time weeding out the ones that are going to have an issue with your kids, or that you have a dog, or that you eat dessert BEFORE dinner.
Yes it is. You really have to get all of your stuff in order AND be the best person you can be when researching this stuff online. There are too many horror stories that are not a benefit for you to be involved in.
I found that the best way to get matched up is to just be honest. It might seem hard to do, but you can tell if someone is messing with you online and not being their true selves.
This is a rule that I have always followed and feel pretty good about it as well.
THIS can be done. I have found many potential partners online. You just have to be very vigilant and still weed them out as you meet them face to face.
Yes it can. I am with a man right now that I met online and we are going on 4 years together.
