How to lose weight in the morning

How To Lose Weight In The Morning? The Secret You’ve Been Looking For!

What if I told you there was one simple thing you could do as soon as you wake up that will help you lose weight and get your day started on the right foot?

You’d call bullsh*t right?

I mean, come on. How many articles have you read about “one simple thing” that will [fill in the blank here]?

“revolutionize your life! lose 30 pounds in 30 seconds!” “cause endless streams of cash to flow into your bank account with no work!” “neverending supply of fine, uncut colombian cocaine!”

So I understand if you’re skeptical, alright? I get it. You’re just here for the cocaine. Don’t worry, I won’t tell the cops.

Instead, I’ll tell you about my one “simple thing” which, contrary to your expectations, is actually pretty damn simple.

Plus, it doesn’t even involve exercise. I’m not going to tell you to stretch, do an hour of yoga, or even lift your car above your head before you go to work. Because that would be insane. I’m not an insane person, am I?

How To Lose Weight In The Morning

Do you want to know how simple it really is? I can explain it in two words: Lemon water. Just lemon. And water. Together. At last. I drink it every morning when I get up because of the many health benefits, not the least of which is aiding digestion. Drinking a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning will aid your body in clearing out toxins and flushing out your digestive system. It breaks down bacteria in your intestines and can help relieve bloating and heartburn.

all that from a glass with h20 in it mixed with citrus. who knew?

To get the most benefit from it, drink it 15-30 minutes before you eat breakfast.

Obviously, don’t just drink lemon juice. That’s almost as crazy as lifting your car over your head. Dilute it down with water until instead of face pucker sour blast it becomes massively refreshing life juice instead.

It’s also a powerhouse of other vital nutrients. It has potassium, vitamin C, fiber, B vitamins, magnesium, iron, and calcium.

Lemon water also packs a punch with antioxidants that fight free radicals which can cause wrinkles and other skin blemishes .

Drinking a glass of lemon water each morning can help to flush those toxins out and keep your skin looking clear and bright. Which is great. Who doesn’t want bright skin? I want my skin to shine like the almighty glowing sun .

Plus, a study published in the “Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Nutrition” in 2008 showed a clear link between lemons and weight loss. Mice given lemon polyphenols actually gained less weight and had lower body fat than those not given the same antioxidants.

The pectin fiber in a couple of squeezes of lemon juice also works to keep you slim and slender. It fights hunger cravings and you may find that you are less and less inclined to reach for that cup of coffee in the morning.

I mean honestly, how many more benefits do you want? We’re talking about lemon water here and I’ve spent the last 8 paragraphs detailing how much good it does for you.

oh you want more? ok fine. i’ll give you more.

Ever have a nasty cold or cough you can’t seem to shake? Drink a glass of lemon water or squeeze some in a cup of tea with a drizzle of honey. The antibacterial properties of lemon juice fight inflammation and viral infections.

Plus, drinking enough lemon juice boosts your immune system from all of the vitamin C, thereby helping to prevent nasty colds in the first place. How’s that for a superfood?

you still want more? what’s wrong with you? why don’t you love me?

Lemon juice also gives a helping hand to your immune system in another sneaky way. When you’re stressed, your body is more prone to injury, infection, and catching something.

Just the scent of a lemon can have a calming effect on your nervous system and lower your stress levels. It has all the bases covered when it comes to protecting your immune system.

also, finally, a study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition demonstrated that people who don’t get enough vitamin C have much more trouble losing body fat than those who do. you know what lemon has a lot of? i’ll save you the suspense: vitamin C.

that’s it. i’m out of benefits. isn’t that enough? how much more could you want? it’s just lemon juice. please. please make it stop.

I use the lemon water method to help me regenerate in the morning. It does not necessarily help me to lose weight, but it does keep my on track with my diet.

I have been trying to detox like this each morning, but I do not seem to be losing much weight. I am supposed to only weigh myself in the morning?

  • JingleBellRock March 21, 2015, 10:21 am

It is amazing how much water plays into your hunger AND the quality of your skin. Losing weight is a hard task to keep up with anyways, but these tips should at least get you started in the morning!

I do the lemon water thing each morning. I also drink more than 8 cups of water per day and that also seems to help me keep the weight off, as well as clear up my skin.

Detoxing is a good thing to do for your body once in a while. Doing so in the morning hours is also the best time to do it. I like the lemon water idea as a good starter. I add a veggie smoothie about an hour later and my morning is all set!

Veggies. That is a secret to lose weight and feeling good. Thanks for the tips.

Veggies and water are a great combo! Good luck on your weight loss!

  • Belinda March 2, 2015, 12:33 pm

Well, I think this is a great list of benefits. I used to do the lemon water thing, but got away from it like many other diet routines throughout my life. Thanks for the motivation to get back into it.

I agree with you. the list is great! I use the lemon water each morning to “detox” from the night before. I have also started to walk each morning before work and that seems to help things throughout the day.

There is nothing simple about losing weight. There is, however, a routine that you can follow that will make it less harder on yourself. Lemon water is great way to get things going in the AM and to feel healthier. I tend to drink a lot more water throughout the day and find that helps me curb snack time hunger, which in turn, removes a few pounds!

  • Nancy February 24, 2015, 4:27 pm

Lemon water is my favorite! If you can keep up on the routine of drinking it in the morning to get things started and continued with water throughout the day, you would be surprised.

    I hate lemon water… I guess i’ll just stay overweight forever then…

    • Hello March 2, 2015, 12:34 pm

LOL, that is funny. If you are really trying to lose weight, this is just one of the ways that you can kick start a diet. It is not going to remove the loads of fat cells around your body.

  • Terri W. February 9, 2015, 10:48 pm

There’s no way it can be this simple… yes maybe lemon juice helps a little bit if you’re trying to lose weight but there’s no way that just drinking lemon juice will make you magically lose weight. My question is what should I actually be doing to lose weight? For me, exercise works OK but I hit these frustrating plateaus, and whenever I try to diet I have unbearable food cravings. What should I do?
