Eat These 10 Delicious Foods For Perfectly Flat Abs

I feel like for a woman, there’s nothing better than being able to wear a tiny bikini and feel no anxiety about your stomach. That ideal image of having those perfect, flat abs might seem unattainable and impossible. Is it? no.

Do you want flatter abs, a toned stomach, and to get rid of belly bloat?

Oh, and do you also want to supercharge the effectiveness of your exercise and boost your metabolism? (which is the key to getting those flat abs in the first place).

Yeah, I thought so.

Here are 10 foods that will do all those things and much, much more…

1. Salmon

Salmon is great for losing weight because it’s a great source for omega-3 fatty acids.

Fatty acids? Those sound bad. Who wants fat and acid?

You, it turns out.

They’re actually super healthy and boost the efficiency of your metabolism, powering your body’s ability to burn even more calories per day.

You can get the most omega-3 fatty acids from fatty fish like mackerel, tuna, and salmon.

2. Eggs

OK, so eggs are great. But how great are they?

Pretty great, as it turns out.

They’re pretty much the perfect protein source because they give you so many essential amino acids along with their protein power boost.

Plus, scientists at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center found that people who eat eggs in the morning report lower levels of hunger throughout the day than people who start their day with carbs, like bagels.

3. Vegetable Soup

Why is veggie soup so good for losing weight?

Well, the data says so.

Regular soup eaters lost 16 pounds more in a year than those who ate the same amount of calories but in snack food.

Plus, the veggie broth will give you the excellent nutrition from the veggies themselves, all in a hot, satisfying, savory combination.

4. Berries

Berries are packed full with – you guessed it – more fiber.

Fiber is so good for you when you’re dieting, you guys. That’s because the more fiber you eat, the less calories you absorb from the other foods you eat – which means the more weight you lose.

Plus, berries are chock full of antioxidants which will boost your workout results and help prevent certain types of cancer.

What more do you need? Eat more berries.

5. Leafy Greens

Leafy greens, like spinach, are a great food for losing weight. Why?

Because a cup of spinach contains just 40 calories. A cup of broccoli contains 55 calories. A cup of ice cream contains like a billion calories.

Oh, and the greens are chock full of fiber too. That’s a recurring theme.

Plus, leafy greens will give you a great amount of calcium, which helps your muscles contract and boosts your workout stamina and power.

6. Apples

Apples? apples? Don’t they contain carbohydrates, the devil, hiss hiss hiss? Actually, they’re pretty great for you, even with the carbs.

Large apples have 5 grams of fiber, which your body needs for good digestion. They also are 85% water, which helps you keep feeling full and satisfied throughout the day.

Plus, they have a compound called “quercetin” (I didn’t know what it was either) that has been demonstrated to help fight certain cancers, promote healthy lungs, and reduce cholesterol damage.

7. Yogurt

The International Journal of Obesity just published a study about yogurt that people who want to lose belly fat will find very interesting.

They found that people who get the calcium in their diet from yogurt lose more weight around their midsection than people who get it from other sources.

Plus, the bacteria in yogurt is probiotic, which keeps your digestion healthy, which boosts your metabolism and prevents stomach bloating.

8. Quinoa

What was once a marginal, unknown food has been thrust into the spotlight, and now most people know this weirdly pronounced food (keen-wah) will give you a ton of protein and fiber in a very small package.

You can cook it just like you would any other grain, and it will give your body the crucial nutrients it needs to boost fat loss and keep you healthy.

9. Soy

Soybeans aren’t just good for avoiding the unpleasant side effects of lactose intolerance.

They also pack a ton of antioxidants, fiber, and protein in a very compact package.

And, you can eat them in so many different ways that you won’t get tired of them. Dry roasted soybeans are delicious, or you could fry up some tofu, or even replace the milk in your cereal with an unsweetened soymilk alternative.

10. Almonds

Almonds are great for your body because they pack a combination of a ton of both protein and fiber.

The fiber will help keep you regular and boost your metabolism, while the protein will stimulate muscle growth.

Plus, they’ve got Vitamin E and magnesium, which helps to maintain muscle tissue, produce energy, and regulate your blood sugar.

Need any more benefits? OK, here’s one more:

Research into the cellular structure of almonds has found that they actually block calories. Their cell walls reduce your body’s absorption of fat from them, which makes them extra lean.

About 5 years ago, I exchanged yogurt for ice cream as a dessert and the results could not be more great! I feel great about it knowing that I am not consuming something that I should be, but still get to eat “dessert”.

Working out your abs is easy when you are eating healthy with the foods you have listed for sure. This is good information for those that want to get started eating better and form a workout routine to expend that energy you are going to have.

Since I am vegetarian, the soy intake is easy. Plus I love all fresh veggies, so it looks like I am on the right track. Now I just have to work on getting rid of that belly flab that I hate to look at!

I love to make desserts with yogurt and berries. I am glad to see both of them on this list as well!

I love to eat Almonds before a meal. My husband says that it helps up stay full and eat less, which is perfect.

Food that create abs? LOL. I understand how this works, the title got my attention in a weird way is all. Just like with any diet or workout, you need to follow it closely and make sure that you don’t miss anything. This website is a good start.

Hmm, I never thought about this. Flat abs are nice to have and if you can help the process along by changing your diet to one filled with these foods, you are on the right track.

I am a vegetarian so some of these foods are off the table for me. However, I have found that since I removed any type of meat from my diet, I feel better and I feel like I have more energy. That also helps when I want to work out and make some great looking abs :)

  • Kevin H. May 24, 2015, 11:10 am

great list, thank you very much for showing us this and teaching us the best way.

I eat pretty good. I also workout every other day throughout the week, but I have not been able to get abs like what I see in photos. Is there something wrong with me? Could it just be my genetic make up that is keeping me from getting the flat abs that I want?

  • Irene X. May 24, 2015, 10:35 am

I tend to stay away from foods that can make my abs flat LOL. I will stick to eating what I want and making sure that I hit the workouts just right.

    • Jacob May 24, 2015, 11:25 am

Exactly. I want to workout to build muscles. I will stick with my normal diet, which is healthy anyways, and move on with new workouts.

  • Linda Scholor May 24, 2015, 10:17 am

Flat abs are sexy and my husband loves them :) That makes it easier for me to keep going the way that I am and even though it might be to make him happy, I think that is a good reason!

  • V. Billman May 24, 2015, 10:03 am

Flat abs are great! I love to look in the mirror and see the abs that I worked so hard to get. I always have one question though. How long could I go without an AB WORKOUT before I start to see the flab start to build in that area?

  • Jack May 24, 2015, 9:47 am

Being vegetarian myself, I have many of these in my diet already. I guess I have a head start. Now I just have to get one of these workouts into my life and I am all set.

  • Grimmly May 22, 2015, 9:33 pm

The abs are one of the hardest things to get tight and toned. There are so many exercises that you can do to affect them, but I never really thought about the foods that I eat affecting them. Thanks for the tips!

  • gail May 22, 2015, 6:40 pm

Getting the abs that you always wanted is not something that is easy to do. Besides a steady diet of what you have listed here, there are exercises involved and that is where the work comes into play.

  • Jesse Miller May 21, 2015, 10:41 pm

Berries and yogurt on the same list? I am in! I love to buy the regular, non-fat yogurt and add my own fruits. It saves me some money, tastes great and is super healthy!

  • Bridgette Ashley May 18, 2015, 10:40 am

Soups are good. They can be very easy to make healthy as well. You do not have to buy the canned soup if you have a slow cooker! Just cut up the good stuff, plop it into the cooker with some veggie broth and you are GOOD TO GO! Thanks!

  • Jason B. May 18, 2015, 10:26 am

I love to eat soup. I can see how you would easily lose weight when you are replacing snack time with a good soup :)
